Bernie Sanders Says Trump Will 'Chew Up and Spit Out' Fellow Candidate

The 2020 race for the presidency has entered its “ugly” phase this week, as candidates on the Democratic side of the equation begin to lay into one another ahead of the Nevada caucuses.

The chaos in Iowa is likely partially to blame for the sudden turn of attitude, as the haphazard ending to those caucuses seemed to indicate that the candidates weren’t just fighting against one another, but also against a Democratic establishment who was again looking to influence the proceedings.

At the top of the head currently is Bernie Sanders, a Senator from Vermont whose penchant for democratic socialism will undoubtedly make him an easy target for Donald Trump, capitalist-incarnate.

But Sanders isn’t so sure of that, and is insinuation that there is another candidate in the race who would be “chewed up and spit out” by the incumbent Republican.

Leading Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders says Michael Bloomberg’s performance at his first debate means President Donald Trump would likely “chew him up and spit him out” in a debate if he were to win the nomination. Sanders spoke to Anderson Cooper Thursday in Las Vegas in an interview to be broadcast on 60 Minutes Sunday, February 23, at 7 p.m. on CBS.

Below is part of Cooper’s interview with Sanders, released Friday on “CBS This Morning.”

ANDERSON COOPER:  Were you surprised by how unprepared he seemed for some very basic obvious questions at a debate in Nevada?

BERNIE SANDERS: Yes, I was. I was. And– and– and, you know– and if that’s what happened in a Democratic debate, you know, I– I think it’s quite likely that Trump will chew him up and spit him out.

Bloomberg’s sudden rise in the polls has alarmed a number of 2020 candidates, who spent much of Wednesday night’s televised debate railing against the Big Apple billionaire.
