Boston Marathon Explosions Kill 2, Injures Dozens

In a series of explosions that rocked the Boston Marathon on Monday, at least two people are dead and at least 64 injured. My first reaction was that this will be shown to be the work of Muslim Jihadists and that there will be attempts to not say that is who is behind this. Jim Stachowiak with Freedom Fighter Radio warns, “Remember the Fort Hood shooter and how the Military and our Govt aided by the mainstream media tried to hide but failed the fact the Hasan the shooter was a muslim. They all knew this from the get go. I expect to see the same actions to be repeated again.” I concur with his assessment.

The explosions occurred near the finish line. We are not told exactly how, but it is reported that the police were aware of the explosive device before the explosion occurred. While two explosions occurred, another device was found and police said they would control the explosion. There have also been reports by the Associated Press that two devices have been found and are being dismantled.

One reporter Tweeted:

I saw people’s legs blown off. Horrific. Two explosions. Runners were coming in and saw unspeakable horror.

The Atlantic Wire reports,

Multiple outlets and law enforcement officials are reporting what a horrific looking scene makes clear, even as a frenzy searching for more potential explosive devices and survivors continues: The headquarters at the Boston Marathon have been locked down after at least two bombs went off near the downtown finish line mid-Monday afternoon. Boston Police confirmed at least two dead and 28 injuries (law enforcement officials told the New York Post that the explosions may have left at least 12 casualties and 50 injuries), while there were gruesome images from the street to makeshift tents and Boston hospitals of lost limbs, hair on fire, children with severe burns, and worse. Boston police and marathon officials have confirmed that there were at least two explosions, but did not characterize them, as the marathon did, as “bombs.”

A Boston Globe photographer reported that he heard but did not see the third explosion, and Boston police were scrambling to contain the scene. “There were two booms heard from near the finish line inside the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel,” reports the AP.

The Boston Globe adds:

Hundreds of police officers and firefighters descended on the scene immediately after the blasts, clearing the finish-line viewing stands.

Bomb squads are searching the area, said Steve MacDonald, a spokesman for the Boston Fire Department. Officials said a third explosion, heard around 4 p.m., was a “controlled blast” staged as part of bomb squad activity.

“There were two bombs that exploded near the finish line in today’s Boston Marathon. We are working with law enforcement to understand what exactly has happened,” the Boston Athletic Association, the organization that runs the marathon, a magnet for runners from all over the world, said in a statement.

Boston.com’s Silva said, “I was there at the finish, shooting finish line scenes, and then bang, it just went off, and then less than 15 to 20 seconds after there was a second explosion, closer to Fairfield Street.”

“It was just an explosion, it came out of nowhere. … I saw dismemberment, I saw blood everywhere. People are badly injured.”

John Guilfoil, a spokesman for Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, said, “The city is coordinating with each agency, including police, fire and EMS, and emergency management as well as with any state and federal agencies that might be involved. We will provide more information to the public as soon as we can. Right now, the Boston Fire Department is urging people to stay away from the area during the investigation.”

NBC reports:
