Just as Bill Clinton’s most famous line will be either “I never had sex with ‘that woman'” or “It depends on what the definition of ‘is’ is,” so too Barack Obama will always be remembered as the man who uttered the words “You didn’t build that” to business owners. As a result plenty of ads and businesses have struck back at him despite his claims that the statement has been taken out of context, which it wasn’t. Take Kevin “The Geek” Kerwin for example, a small business owner in Oregon.
Kevin is a Hurricane Katrina survivor who moved out to Lake Oswego, Oregon to start all over again. He heard Obama’s words berating business owners and it ticked him off as it did all Americans who understand how entrepreneurship works.
The business that Kevin started was begun with just the money he had in his pocket. When he heard Obama utter those insulting words “You didn’t build that,” he decided he had heard enough and decided to blast back.
What did he do? Well he made his own sign.
The sign read:
I built my business by myself.
You had nothing to do with it.
You incompetent lousy excuse for a President.
Well I’d say that most of us feel that way who have our own business and if we don’t have one, we still want to say the last line and more.
But Kevin didn’t expect there to be a customer who didn’t agree with him in the manner that he faced. Victoria Taft writes:
Kevin “The Geek” got an interesting customer yesterday at his Lake Oswego based business. A Dunthorpe doyenne entered his store, began berating the businessman for his anti Obama sign, and when he insisted he wouldn’t take it down, slapped him. He threatened to call the cops but she left and then shuffled across the street and lost herself in the stores and parking lot.
He didn’t get a picture or see her vehicle and doesn’t know her name so did not report her to police.
He also received a note from an apparent Obama parrot that read,
Really? So you didn’t go to school, use the roads, utilities, or water? Wow you’re special!
It’s amazing how the “tolerant” left are completely intolerant of people that disagree with them, isn’t it?
Later in the week, Kevin added another sign just below the previous one which read:
Thank you Clint Eastwood….You made my day…..”Nobama 2012″
Maybe all businesses should take Kevin’s approach and for good measure make sure their people are packing heat in case the Democrats want to enter and start assaulting employees or worse attempt to shoot the place up. As far as I know true conservatives don’t do things like that. Liberals do.
