CA Considering Bill To Legalize More Than Two Parents

Remember the days of June and Ward Beaver or Ozzie and Harriet? Well those days are long gone. Two parent households were the norm, including in California where it is law. But that is all about to change says State Senator Mark Leno.

Leno is pushing to have legislation passed that will allow for a child to have multiple parents.

“The bill brings California into the 21st century, recognizing that there are more than Ozzie and Harriet families today,” the San Francisco Democrat said.

Sacbee reports,

Surrogate births, same-sex parenthood and assisted reproduction are changing society by creating new possibilities for nontraditional households and relationships.

Under Leno’s bill, if three or more people who acted as parents could not agree on custody, visitation and child support, a judge could split those things up among them.

SB 1476 is not meant to expand the definition of who can qualify as a parent, only to eliminate the limit of two per child.

Under current law, a parent can be a man who signs a voluntary declaration of paternity, for example. It also can be a man who was married and living with a child’s mother, or who took a baby into his home and represented the infant as his own.

A legislative analyst for the Traditional Values Coalition, Benjamin Lopez, struck out at Leno’s proposed bill as an attempt to “revamp, redefine and muddy the waters” of the family structure in order to legalize homosexual “marriage.”

Karen Anderson with California Protective Parents Association said that the legislation could end up being very bad for the child as it is bounced among multiple adults during a bitter family breakup. Ya think?!

She said, “”It’s hard enough for children to be split up two ways, much less multiple ways.”

The issue of child stability is a concern in SB1476 and that stability “may mean that not all parents share legal or physical custody.”

Ms. Anderson contends, “Either someone is vital enough in a child’s life to be labeled a ‘parent’ and have certain rights and obligations to the child, or the person is not.”

I agree with Ms. Anderson. However there are liberals and openly militant homosexuals endorsing the bill for obvious reasons. Take Ellen Pontac for instance. She and her “wife”, Shelly Bailes each had two children when they began their perverted relationship. She claims that government should accommodate changing times stating, “I just think that people should be able to create their own lives.”

Well I agree they should be able to create their own lives, but they should also live with the consequences of what they have created for themselves. If they want to pervert the order of things then they should suffer the consequences. Sadly though, it is the children that suffer the most in these circumstances. They are robbed of two parent homes where there is a mother and father there who balance things as God intended.
