As we deal with the overwhelming crisis of illegals flooding our country, we are now faced with the call from Europe for America to do something about the surge in migrants from the Middle East.
Fox reports:
The surge of refugees fleeing Syria and other war-torn regions is putting immense pressure not only on Europe but also the United States, as the Obama administration faces calls to take a more active role in the humanitarian crisis.
But, this raises the same question that I discussed when reporting on this migrant crisis. What are we to do about the possibility of terrorists entering with the migrants? Even if we were okay with a fresh stream of Muslim immigrants flooding our country, and I don’t think that we should be, what about the security issues?
Fox continues:
At the same time, some lawmakers on Capitol Hill are warning that loosening immigration rules to take them in would pose a serious security risk. For the Obama administration – and the one that succeeds it – there are no easy answers.
But, are we just to look at this issue as one in which we are to act? Besides the threat of incoming Islamic terrorists and the growing influence of Islamists in our colleges and communities, there is an even more important question: Why is it our responsibility?
Yes, I know, there are many that have suffered and died because of the war in Syria. The Civil War has been brutal, and I do not blame those people for wanting to flee. The issue that I think is staring America straight in the face is why is it our concern?
Fox adds:
The pace and scale of displacement, and the extreme measures refugees are taking to escape their own battered homeland, has quickly made Syria’s problem everyone’s problem.
But again, how is it our problem? Why are we saddled with these people? Are we to not only police the world, but also its welfare provider? Many will argue that these immigrants will provide workers, and even educated positions. What they will also provide is a strain on our entitlements program. They will receive free education, healthcare, welfare, and food stamps. All of this costs the American tax-payer.
But many do not agree with me on my line of thinking.
Fox reports:
“The United States has a moral obligation to assist countries that are hosting Syrian refugees, but we also have a national security interest in maintaining stability in this critical region,” Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., argued in a letter earlier this year to Obama. “Moreover, at this delicate moment in relations between the United States and the Arab world, offering safe haven to more Syrians refugees will send a positive signal about our concern for the suffering of innocent Syrian civilians.”
What moral obligation? No, the issue is that our pansy president and the weak legislature have allowed this war in Syria to continue far longer than was needed. If we had let our Air Force loose and sent in 600 Marines, Syria would have no civil war. Instead, we have a president seeking job opportunities for these murderers rather than dealing with them as needed.
As things stand, we are sure to see a fresh influx of people who think that their country was and is better than ours and wish to change us to fit them. God help us!
