Apparently a hacker, known online by his alias “Guccifer,” has exposed personal photos and emails of former President George H. W. Bush and correspondence with his son George W. Bush, after he hacked into several e-mail accounts, including the ex-president’s sister and others. While releasing some information, other information has been withheld.

Included in the hacked material is a confidential October 2012 list of home addresses, cell phone numbers, and e-mails for dozens of Bush family members, including both former presidents, their siblings, and their children. The posted photos and e-mails contain a watermark with the hacker’s online alias, “Guccifer.”
Correspondence obtained by the hacker indicates that at least six separate e-mail accounts have been compromised, including the AOL account of Dorothy Bush Koch, daughter of George H.W. Bush and sister of George W. Bush. Other breached accounts belong to Willard Heminway, 79, an old friend of the 41st president who lives in Greenwich, Connecticut; CBS sportscaster Jim Nantz, a longtime Bush family friend; former first lady Barbara Bush’s brother; and George H.W. Bush’s sister-in-law.
Both Heminway and Nantz corresponded with Bush, 88, about playing golf and visiting the Bush compound in Kennebunkport, Maine.
The hacked e-mails, sent between 2009 and 2012, include correspondence between Nantz and George W. Bush’s scheduler about an October 2010 golf outing in Dallas. One e-mail includes the street address for Bush, 66, as well as the four-digit code Nantz needed to enter at a security gate. A second e-mail includes details of where Nantz and Bush planned to have dinner after their Saturday golf outing.
Among the emails was one that demonstrated just how serious Bush’s hospital visit was back in December 2012. On December 26, in an email to siblings, George W. Bush wrote that he was “thinking about eulogy” and contemplating memories throughout his father’s life. “Hopefully I’m jumping the gun,” noted Bush, who added, “But since the feeling is that you all would rather me speak than bubba, please help.”
He also mentioned “bubba,” which is apparently a reference to Bill Clinton, who he has referred to as a “brother.”
Even an email was sent by Valerie Jarrett, on behalf of Barack Obama, to Bush in late December which read, “Michelle and I haven’t wanted to impinge on you while you are recuperating, but please know that we are thinking of you and the entire family.”

When asked is he was concerned about hte FBI/Secret Service investigation that would inevitably follow, the hacker responded, “I have an old game with the f***ing bastards inside, this is just another chapter in the game.”
A spokesman for Bush, who is 88, told the Houston Chronicle an investigation was under way, but declined to comment further. “We do not comment on matters under criminal investigation,” said Jim McGrath.
What does this have to do with you and I? Well for starters just note the kind of friendship that exists between all these men and ask yourself if they are really so different. Second, think of the ability of someone to hack a former president’s email account and then think in terms of hacking government websites and even drones, of which 30,000 of them are scheduled to be in American airspace by 2020.
Does this make you feel more or less secure? By the way, this is no endorsement of SOPA or PIPA. Rather, I think it pertinent to make you aware of how “the game” is being played and just who the players are. If our government can’t protect their own websites from attack, why are they so insistent to impose draconian internet legislation on the rest of us?
Additionally, one has to wonder what else might have been taken in other “interesting emails” that were obtained. I would actually like to see emails around the time of 9-11 myself, but I’m assuming those would not be under personal accounts.
