The current crossroads of entertainment and politics in America reminds me wholeheartedly of a Will Ferrell line from a goofy Saturday Night Live sketch years ago.
In the skit, Ferrell was playing acclaimed singer Robert Goulet after having recorded an album of rap covers. The premise was that Goulet was upset about “non professional” musicians, (in his eyes, rappers), encroaching on his territory. One of the most memorable lines, and the one I’m referencing was:
“You wouldn’t hire a clown to fix a leak in the john”.
Today, as Americans increasingly turn to celebrities for their social and political views, we need to ask ourselves why we’re taking the advice of the unqualified on these all-important matters.
Tommy Lee, of Motley Crüe and homemade pornography fame, has become just another example of this, doling out all manner of political vitriol to the masses.
The Mötley Crüe drummer posted a long quote — traced back at least a year back and written by an unknown author — to his social media platforms on Wednesday. It started with, “You Trumpsters better pray that liberals never gain control of the [White House] again because we are going to pay you back so f***king hard for all this sh**.”
It went on to list all the changes liberals would potentially make: “Planned Parenthoods on every damn corner,” repaint Air Force One “p***y hat pink and fly it over your beloved Bible Belt 6 days a week, tossing birth control pills, condoms & atheist literature from the cockpit.”
The post went on to promise to “tax your mega churches so bad” that Joel Osteen will “need to get a job at Chick-fil-A to pay his light bill.”
Chicken sandwiches weren’t spared from the glam rocker’s wrath either.
As for Chick-fil-A, those will all be given to “any LGBTQ person your sick cult leaders tortured with conversion therapy. Have fun with the new menu you bigoted f**ks,” listing one item as the “McPence,” with a remark about being “in the closet.”
Tommy Lee is no plumber, that’s for sure, but he does make for one hell of a clown.
