Home » Government Lies about Standoff with Cliven Bundy – It isn’t about the Tortoise, its About Fracking

If the situation in Nevada is to escalate into bloodshed or even the next American Revolution, it is important to understand that these 200 armed federal agents are not in Nevada to save the tortoise.

The American people are not stupid. Our government cares nothing about the Desert Tortoise. There is no money in saving the turtles. However, like every foreign war in our history, if there is to be bloodshed there must be a cause of righteousness to justify it. Cliven Bundy doesn’t have weapons of mass destruction, and he has not, to our knowledge, taken part in any terrorist activities.

But the land he is using does have something in common with Iraq and Afghanistan.

It is rich in resources.

The other thing Mr. Bundy has in common with the many unfortunate targets of American military intervention is that he decided to no longer participate in a system that was unjust, in his opinion. Just like those who decided to try to stray away from the Petrodollar in foreign lands, Bundy decided many years ago to stop paying the federal government’s fees for something that he felt entitled to. For this, there is a consequence. You do not cross the federal government.

The constitutionality of this is debatable, but Bundy is standing on the Tenth Amendment. He believes that this land belongs to Nevada and that the Federal Government has no right to collect fees for its use. People are sick and tired of the government taking more and more while delivering less and less. They are sick of the “taxation without representation” and they are sick of the intimidation of the current police state.

So is this about tortoises in the eyes of the federal government?

Only for their useful idiots that do not know better.

And for the rest, whatever makes you sleep at night.

Natural News dropped a bombshell yesterday, and I want to give you an excerpt below. Americans are smart enough to know that our government would not send 200 armed agents to protect some tortoises. It is always about money or resources/assets that can be turned into money. Mike Adams reports:

The Bureau of Land Management says its 200-man armed siege of the Cliven Bundy ranch in Nevada is all about protecting an “endangered tortoise.” But a Natural News investigation has found that BLM is actually in the business of raking in millions of dollars by leasing Nevada lands to energy companies that engage in fracking operations.

This document from the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology shows significant exploratory drilling being conducted in precisely the same area where the Bundy family has been running cattle since the 1870′s. The “Gold Butte” area is indicated on the lower right corner of the document (see below), and it clearly shows numerous exploratory drilling operations have been conducted there.

What’s also clear is that oil has been found in nearby areas and possibly even within the Gold Butte area itself.

It is, of course, customary for the U.S. government to bring armed soldiers to an oil dispute. (Operation “Iraqi Freedom” for starters…) Heavily armed snipers, helicopters and militarized soldiers have never been invoked over tortoises. (Anyone who thinks this siege is about reptiles is kidding themselves.)

Here’s the map showing the oil exploration conducted on the land where Bundy runs his cattle (all the red crosshairs are oil and gas exploration drilling operations):

If you would like to read the full article, it goes on to give examples of oil and gas leases that are already happening in Nevada.

I think the issue here is transparency.

Why can’t the government just come out and say, “Hey, this is not about the tortoises, it is about the gas and oil deposits that we found on the land”?

Why? Because when this started, some 20 years ago, it was about the tortoises (so they claim) and like any pathological liar that you have ever known, the government must continue to live the lie.

To tell the truth would upset those who really do care about the environment.

The truth is that 700 cows are probably less of a threat to those tortoises than large commercial fracking companies. The truth is that Cliven Bundy is probably fighting to save those tortoises whether he knows it or not.

He has stated that it is not about grazing fees for him, but about control. If the federal government was as honest and open as Cliven Bundy, then we probably wouldn’t have ever come to this impasse.

As of yesterday afternoon Pete Santilli was reporting that 50 militia members had already arrived at the Bundy Ranch; more militia surely arrived last night and more will come today.

I don’t think many people on either side really believe this is about tortoises.

Please pray for America today. This situation could get ugly.
