House RINOS Indicate They Will Not Defund Obamacare

I am seriously beginning to question whether leadership actually means anything to the Republican Party anymore. When asked about what House Republicans were going to do in regards to funding or not funding Obamacare in their legislation to fund the government after September 30, House Speaker John Boehner said, “our goal would be to make sure the government is funded,” which indicates they will cave to the administration and fund the controversial health care tax.

CNS News reports,

Unless a special provision is put into the bill to fund the government past Sept. 30 that expressly prohibits funding specifically for the Obamacare regulation that requires health-care plans to cover, without cost-sharing, sterilizations, artificial contraceptives and abortifacients, the House Republicans, by funding implementation of Obamacare, will also be funding implementation of that regulation.

At a press conference on Tuesday, when asked specifically “In whatever legislation funds the government after Sept. 30, will House Republicans permit funding for the Affordable Care Act?” Boehner said,

“I expect that we’ll have an agreement with the Senate on a CR [continuing resolution]. As you all know, CR’s do contain some changes but usually not many changes. And considering that we’ve been fighting–the House has voted now 33 times to defund, to repeal and change Obamacare. Actually, about seven or eight of those votes have become laws, so there have been changes.”

“But our goal would be to make sure the government is funded and any political talk of a government shutdown is put to rest.”

Boehner’s position had been echoed by Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) in a press briefing on Monday. “We’re not at a CR (continuing resolution) yet, but I don’t see this government ever being shut down,” he answered in response to a question very similar to the one posed to Boehner. I think you’ll find that we’ll get this job done. We have displayed many times our desire to repeal and we will continue to do so. I think when we do it you always criticize us on our votes of how many times we try to repeal it in the process.”

So what we learn about the Republicans is that they are more than willing to not shut down the government versus tax you and I more to make them look better politically in an election year. To demonstrate that I’m not just saying this, when McCarthy was asked if it came down to a government shut down or the House Republicans funding Obamacare, he said, “I don’t think you’re going to find any members here who are going to shut down the government.”

Congress is the appropriator of all spending. If it does not pass the Congress, it does not happen, at least according to the U.S. Constitution. However, Republicans have been in charge of the House since 2010 and what have we really seen as far as their ability to put politics aside and stand for the principles they were elected to govern by? We’ve seen the past three years of $1 trillion dollar deficit spending. Yes I realize Democrats are responsible too and they should be blamed, but none of that would be possible if the House Republicans would abide by their principles. We did not send those guys up there to get re-elected or to keep from making hard decisions and we certainly didn’t send them to Washington to get along and cozy up to the enemies of the Republic.

It’s high time they did their jobs or be replaced.
