Illinois State Trooper Shot In Head While Serving Warrant


An Illinois State Police trooper is fighting for his life after he sustained life-threatening injuries while serving a search warrant in an East St. Louis.

Illinois State Police say that a 33-year-old Trooper was struck during an exchange of gunfire at the home.

Law Enforcement Today reports that the trooper was shot in the head. and were told that when he got to the hospital, he was still alive and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit.

Illinois State Police say “suspects” are in custody. 1 person shot and taken to the hospital. No word on condition.

Breaking news out of East St. Louis, where an Illinois State Police trooper was shot in early Friday.

Sources tell Law Enforcement Today that the trooper was shot in the head.  We’re told that when he got to the hospital, he was still alive and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit.

We’re told that the family has been informed, however we will not be releasing the trooper’s name until state police do so publicly.

According to Illinois State Trooper Josh Korando, the officer was shot while executing a warrant in East St. Louis.

Shortly after, police surrounded a home near 42nd Street and Caseyville Avenue.

We’re told that police arrested at least one person about 6 a.m. and then searched a second area nearby around 43rd Street and Vanburen Avenue. More

MDJ reports Dorothy Burns said: “All I can say is they need to cut this violence out because it’s on my block. Police need to get some stun guns because too many people are getting shot. Too many guns around.”

A cop got shot Ms. Burns and the police are already outgunned by most of the criminals they encounter.
