Is the Pope, like Barack, Trying to Change Tradition and History?

What would you think if Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and former President Jimmy Carter all came out and proclaimed their love for Ted Cruz? Would you think, “Wow—three out-of-control leftists love Ted Cruz. Maybe they’ve seen the light? That’s great news! They must’ve seen the error of their ways and come over to our side.”

Of course not! These three are committed leftists. What you should be thinking is what the heck happened to the poster boy of conservatism, Cruz.

So when we see Jane Fonda, Jim Carrey, Bill Maher, Russell Crowe, and John Stewart tweeting that you, “Gotta love new Pope – He cares about the poor – Unlike U.S. Congress…,” or, “He’s changing the tone of the way you regard the Pope,” or, “That’s it – I’m converting – I love this guy,” you have to know these people are not going to convert to Catholicism. We also must conclude there is something not quite right (literally) with Pope Francis.

None of these lefties have seen the light and suddenly found religion, so it leaves us with but one sad conclusion: the Pope is no conservative – and I don’t mean politically.

Yet we can’t put politics aside when the leader of the Catholic Church is a redistributionist and a global warming nut. I’m sorry to all you Catholics, but facts are facts. I know this will not win me many friends, but you have to admit – there is something not quite right.

Now, not being a Catholic, I cannot speak to the tenets of the religion, but it certainly appears to me that Pope Francis is treating Catholic traditions and doctrine the way Obama treats our Constitution and laws. He appears to just be making wholesale changes to centuries of tradition. To what end, I do not know.

Just look at his new abortion policy, where he has instructed priests to absolve Catholic women of the sin for the next year, if they appear contrite. But Vatican officials claim it’s possible that the Pope may make the policy permanent.

This is not a political issue. If the Church believes abortion is murder, and they continue to absolve the flock, where do or can they draw the line? Will murdering her two-year-old be absolvable next?

Yes, I know that sounds absurd, but that’s the folly of compromise. Once you start, where, or how do you stop.

His stance on homosexuality is turning not only the traditions of the church, but also the Bible upside down, as the Bible states that a man lying with another man is a an “abomination.”

You either believe and adhere to the book of your religion, or you don’t—and if you don’t, that’s not much of a religion. As much as some would like, there is no gray area. The Bible doesn’t provide for half measures, hedging, or evolving opinion.

Pope Francis is indeed a most popular guy, but it seems he’s becoming popular with the wrong crowd. Frankly, it appears to me, that he views his church the way moderate Republicans view the party – as a big tent. The way to attract more and more converts to either is to water down age-old beliefs, traditions, and doctrine, giving no thought to what you’ll end up with.

Actually, now that I think of it, Pope Francis appears to be exhibiting the worst traits of both Democrats and Republicans. Republicans, as mentioned, are happy to water down their beliefs and values to expand the party, and Democrats treat the Constitution as a living document to be shaped and molded to fit their evolving agenda.

But, as I said, I’m not Catholic, so these changes will not affect my faith.

My point is, with so many avowed faithless leftists proclaiming their love for the man, we really must wonder just who this guy is and what his end game is, if there is one.

Is the Pope doing these things out of love? Or, like Michelle said of Barack, does he believe, “we’re going to have to change our traditions, our history…”

I’m not casting aspersions on Catholicism, but it appears to an outsider like me that this Pope is overstepping his bounds, and can the clock be turned back after he exits? Or, once he’s out, is there no putting the liberal Genie back in the bottle?
