Will James Brady Be Used as Ted Kennedy Was to Continue the Push for Gun Confiscation?

If you are like me, you can remember the day that President Ronald Reagan was shot. You remember the man, John Hinckley Jr., who shot Reagan as he exited the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC after a speaking engagement. During the shooting, not only was Reagan wounded, but his press secretary James Brady, was also seriously injured. In fact, following that shooting, Brady was used to advance more gun control in America, even having a piece of legislation named after him, known as the Brady Bill. Brady died on August 4, 2014 and now a DC medical examiner has ruled his death a homicide because of complications associated with the 1981 shooting.

The 73-year-old died in his home after suffering for years from the events of that fateful day, leaving behind his wife Sarah and two children.

NBC reports:

The death of James Brady — President Ronald Reagan’s press secretary who was wounded in the attempt on Reagan’s life in March 1981 — was a homicide, a medical examiner ruled Friday.

Brady died as a result of the grievous injuries he suffered 33 years ago, the Office of the Medical Examiner for the Northern District of Virginia said. That means gunman John Hinckley Jr. could be charged with Brady’s murder.

The NBC Justice correspondent stated that there is not a statute of limitations on murder in either the federal or state system.

However, one has to wonder about what appears to be a very old ruling of homicide.

The New York Times adds:

The ruling could allow prosecutors in Washington, where Reagan and Mr. Brady were shot on March 30, 1981, by¬†John W. Hinckley Jr., to reopen the case and charge Mr. Hinckley with murder. The United States attorney’s office said Friday that it was “reviewing the ruling on the death of Mr. Brady” and had no further comment.

Hinckley has been a patient at a mental facility, and since he was found not guilty by reason of insanity in the shooting, which, in my estimation, is utterly ridiculous, then what makes anyone think he would be found guilty of homicide?

But there is always hope. The Associated Press reports, “Officials at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, where Mr. Hinckley is a patient, have said the mental illness that led him to shoot Reagan in an effort to impress actress Jodie Foster has been in remission for decades. Mr. Hinckley has been allowed to leave the hospital to visit his mother’s home in Virginia and can now spend more than half of his time outside the hospital on such visits.”

The obvious question should be asked, why has Hinckley not been allowed to leave permanently if he is in remission?

My guess is that Brady will be used now to advance the cause towards gun confiscation even more, just as Ted Kennedy was used following his death to advance Obamacare.

We know at the federal level that all federal gun laws are clearly unconstitutional and that it appears the federal government is not being held in check when it comes to these kinds of unlawful laws.

Nevertheless, with people like Michael Bloomberg, Shannon Watts, Eric Holder and Barack Obama, who will gladly continue to carry the baton for Brady in advance of disarming the American people, we can expect to have to stand and fight these criminals to maintain our liberties in this land. And stand we will!
