NAACP Chapter Leader on Violence and Destruction of Confederate Monuments: "It's All Senseless"

Following the events in Charlottesville, Virginia this week, leaders in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania came together to denounce what occurred and to state that they would not allow the destruction to take place in their community the way it did further south.

One of those leaders is a local NAACP chapter president by the name of Esther Lee.

Lee had been watching the aftermath of what took place in Charlottesville, including the destruction and removal of Confederate monuments in Durham, North Carolina and Baltimore, Maryland.

“I think it’s all senseless. All senseless… You know, we’re 108 years in as NAACPers and we might think things would improve, but they do not. You know we still have this factor about black and white,” Lee told WFMZ.

Echoing the sentiments of Martin Luther King, Jr. about the color of one’s skin, she asked, “What does that have to do with it? I bleed red blood.”

Stephanie Hnatiw, the Executive Director of the YWCA, Bethlehem told 69 News, “We’re not going to tolerate what happened in Virginia. It’s not going to happen here. We have good people here, we won’t let it.”

She then presents a reasoned, mature response to the young Marxists vandalizing and destroying the statues erected in memorial to our history.

“You know that’s history,” she said.  “That was in that point in time. You can’t eliminate what history is. So I disapprove with young people pulling down those statues.”

“A young woman died,” Lee added.  “Two officers were murdered in a plane crash and all for what? Because somebody in their mind decided, ‘we don’t need to look at that anymore.’”

“It shouldn’t be,” she concluded.

She even had good words for President Trump and prays for him.

“I would pray that he would gain the strength to do what’s necessary in the job, at least for these four years,” she says.

NBA superstar Charles Barley echoed her comments in a recent interview that was posted to Twitter.

On one hand, Barkley is exactly right about what people should be engaging in, and it isn’t trying to shout down those that hate you nor focus time and energy on removing statues.

They should be more concerned about caring for their families, being truly educated and making a difference in their communities and their world.

This is actually a Christian concept of taking dominion under the lordship of King Jesus.

On the other hand, one cannot ignore these activists.

The reason I say this is because this is the same playbook that has been used over and over in other countries to distrupt society in order to bring in totalitarian ideologies and dictators.

I agree with Barkley that many people, including those with dark skin, probably never notice the statues that are being attacked, but let’s also remember that those statues remind us of men who stood against tyranny too.

First, it was the Confederate flag that was attacked as a “symbol of hate,” when it was a symbol of resistance to tyranny.

Now, it’s attacking our history and heritage and the true fight for freedom by removing those monuments that remind us of that heritage.

We cannot forget the deeds of the past.  They are teachers for us if we are but willing to learn from them.

They are also reminders of how God works in history and the men he has used both good and evil to accomplish His purposes.

The War of Northern Aggression demonstrated the true character of men and who they would side with:  They either sided with Marxist tyranny or independence and sovereignty.

I wonder how many people will look back at those heroes of the South and call them racists without ever knowing their true character.

I wonder how many people would be encouraged and aided by doing a little reading on their own of some of those men’s lives and how they loved and conducted themselves rather than buy into the public school indoctrination they were and are being fed.

I’m guessing not many will do that.

The bottom line in all of this has nothing to do with racism.  It has to do with subverting the culture to usher in a new one, one that will be more oppressive than most Americans can possibly imagine.

However, it might go a long way to helping all on both sides to understand that the past is a good teacher, and when it comes to these violent activists doing what they are doing, we don’t have to look to the War of Northern Aggression to learn what they are doing, we just need to look to Nazi Germany.

It’s the same players with the same playbook.
