Nancy Pelosi: What Difference Does it Make What was in the Spending Deal?

It seems that the question “What difference does it make?” continues to be touted by radical socialist Democrats. First it was former State Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton as she became flustered during questioning about Benghazi. Just days ago, following the spending bill that screwed over the American taxpayer for political expediency, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asked “What difference does it make” what was in the spending bill?

nancy-pelosi-282x300-1Pelosi addressed reporters during a weekly press briefing on Thursday to discuss the last minute deal, which ignores spending caps mandated by the sequester and included several appropriations that have caused many eyebrows to be raised.

However, just like Obamacare, Pelosi could care less about what was passed. The goal was simply to pass the bill.

“You know what, what difference does it make? Why are we talking about this?” Pelosi said when asked about the spending deal. “We’re talking about a bill, as I said last night, I’m not asking anybody to vote for this bill on the merits. Let’s talk about the fact that $986 [billion] is not a figure that enables the government to work for the American people. Let us focus on the fact that February is not an appropriate extension of the full faith and credit of the United States.”

The deal will freeze current spending levels at $986 billion as outlined in the Budget Control Act of 2011, but ignores the levels the federal government is supposed to operate under as of October 1, which is $967 billion.

Among the appropriations that were included in the deal, which were not debated, are:

  • A $174,000 one-time payment to the widow of Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.), who died over the summer
  • $3 billion for construction on a dam on the Ohio River between Illinois and Kentucky
  • $3 million for the Department of Defense to assist African leaders in searching for Joseph Kony

These are just a few of the appropriations. Seriously, a one-time payment to a senator’s widow?

Not to mention that the train wreck of Obamacare continues to steam forward though not providing much of anything in terms of affordable health care.

Pelosi, the Democrats and establishment Republicans simply wanted the government “open” again. They could care less what the costs were to taxpayers.

“I have bigger problems than what that one appropriation may have been in the bill,” the former House Speaker said. “Nonetheless, none of it was a reason not to open government and remove all doubt that we were going to honor the full faith and credit of the United States. …

“So if you want to have an objection to the bill, there are bigger things to object to. But the fact is that we had to open government. … I’m not pinning a rose on this bill but I am giving it a vote because we have to open government.”

Well, here we go again. I’m sure it will take some time to find out just what all was dealt out in this latest bill. Like its predecessor Obamacare, one must wonder if we will be looking at all kinds of goodies that senators lumped into a bill that didn’t even receive open scrutiny. Pelosi voted to increase reckless spending and not be fiscally responsible, and just prior to the vote she had the audacity to blast Republican members of House by asking them, Was Your “Recklessness worth $24 billion to our economy?”
