President Donald Trump is set to make the announcement Friday afternoon at the White House. His adviser Larry Kudlow tells reporters that “America has great beef” and “we get to sell more.”
Due to the existence of longstanding beef restriction within the EU, this landmark trade deal has been seen as an opportunity to reshape the livestock landscape of international economics.
The move comes as trade talks with China have stalled, with Beijing seemingly attempting to run out the clock until the 2020 election. This is all in hopes of a democratic candidate usurping the incumbent Trump, making for easier negotiations as far as China is concerned.
American farmers have been suffering as China continues to stymy talks with Washington, particularly in the realm of soybean farming. Beijing has recently expressed interest in working with Russia to augment this supply chain break, further irking President Trump and the American agriculturalists who support him.
