“We want to see health-care reform done, but we want to do it right,” he said. “And if you rush this thing through before anybody even knows what it is, that isn’t good democracy. That’s not doing our work for our constituents.”
Well, again, we aren’t a democracy, Mr. Ryan. We are a republic!
Furthermore, we know that these guys don’t have a clue what their bill will cost and it leaves lots of Obamacare in place just like their previous socialist healthcare bill.
Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), who introduced the final amendment, said on Wednesday evening that it would be nice to have a CBO score first.
“I wish that we had it, alright?” he said, but there’s no time to wait “because I don’t expect it probably for a couple weeks.”
No time to wait! This is a ridiculous argument. Why don’t you guys pull from two of the actual Obamacare repeal bills and choose this one or this one? You can read both of them in under one minute. They are plain and they are clear, but Republicans want us to think we somehow need them to treat us like children, that we are incapable of handling the truth and getting healthcare or insurance without the almighty hand of the state! Healthcare and insurance are not among the enumerated powers that Congress was given authority to legislate! Read the Constitution you people swore to abide by!
A full repeal of Obamacare is better than any of these bills that have been put forward and that is according to the Congressional Budget Office.
In 2012, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) spoke out against senators who vote without reading the bills they vote on.
That was because he just received a 600-page bill that morning, which no one had taken the time to read. Paul later proposed a bill that would prohibit the inclusion of more than one subject in a single bill, making sure that it could be read by those voting.
Frankly, if Republicans pass a healthcare bill it will be just as much a disaster as Obamacare because they are not repealing it. They are merely continuing it and controlling it.
