Candidate for SC Lt Governor: Restore Sound Money, Pro-Life, Family, Christian & Home Education

Ray Moore (Chaplain, Lt. Col. USAR Ret.) is a South Carolina native and graduate of The Citadel and Grace Theological Seminary. He has served for over 35 years in pastoral ministry or as a director of a Christian organization. He has also been the recipient of the Bronze Start Medal for his role in Gulf War I. Now, Moore is poised for the number two spot in South Carolina government, as he filed last month to run for Lt. Governor of South Carolina. According to Moore, “My candidacy would be a message and agenda-oriented one, focusing on the theme, ‘What once was can be again. We would focus on a restoration of pro-life, pro-family, pro-private, Christian and home education and pro-sound money (or a return to the gold standard) principles.”

Additionally, Moore has served more than 15 years with Exodus Mandate, a group whose aim is to “encourage and assist Christian families to leave Pharaoh’s school system (i.e. government schools) for the Promised Land of Christian schools or homeschooling.” He is also a co-founder and member of the SC Sound Money committee.

Ray Moore has also wrote the Forward to the book Education Reformation, in which he wrote that many evangelicals “who recognize the Great Commission as the primary focus of the New Testament and the principal mission of the church will ascertain through these pages that they have neglected the discipleship of their own children in the family.”

“All too often many of these dear brethren have sent their children into harm’s way in the public schools to fulfill the Great Commission or be ‘salt and light.’ This tactical error has had tragic consequences,” he wrote.

Pointing out that 40% of elementary school children walk away from the visible church by the end of middle school and 80% by the end of high school, Moore laments, “The Christian church in America is truly in the middle of a generational crisis. We are losing our children, we are losing our civilization.”

He also makes a point I’ve made and that is the government school system is a clear violation of the First Amendment as it teaches secular humanism, which has been ruled a religion.

“Secular humanism teaches that humans are the supreme beings of the universe instead of God, and that God either doesn’t exist or is simply not necessary. As a result, without God to determine the absolute standard for good and evil, secular humanism teaches that every human being is free to do whatever seems right in his own eyes.”

While South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley wants the state to spend $160 million more on government run schools, Moore is calling for parents to get their kids out of the government schools.

WND highlighted Moore’s campaign in March:

He said the state’s GOP isn’t doing all that it should for children.

“It looks now as if the South Carolina GOP has committed to the ‘Truce Strategy’ on major issues in the upcoming 2014 elections,” he said. “For example, Gov. Haley has adopted much of the Democrat program on K-12 public education reform and abandoned any sort of school choice model. … Someone needs to carry the banner statewide for educational freedom (or school choice) and [the] need to grow K-12 private, Christian and home education.”

Moore said that as executive producer of the nationally acclaimed “IndoctriNation” movie, he would be a good person to make the case for education alternatives.

“A sub-theme would be ‘every church a school, every parent a teacher, every pastor a headmaster,'” he said.

“IndoctriNation” takes a “hard look at the true state of public education” and notes that nearly 90 percent of Christian children attend a public school.

In the film, Colin Gunn, a homeschool father of seven, drives an old school bus across America, asking questions about the origins and social impact of America’s public education system.

“My candidacy would be a message and agenda-oriented one, focusing on the theme, ‘What once was can be again,'” Moore said. “We would focus on a restoration of pro-life, pro-family, pro-private, Christian and home education and pro-sound money (or a return to the gold standard) principles.

“If we go back to these principles and our Christian heritage, we may find with God’s mercy ‘what once was can be again,'” he said.

As Dr. Joel McDurmon reminds us:

“What once was can be again.” That’s not mere sentimentalism or pining for the good ol’ days. When righteousness and biblical principle are involved, it is what Christians call repentance.

As a side note, for those who have not viewed the documentary IndoctriNation, I would highly recommend it, especially for Christian parents.

Ray Moore’s campaign is opposed by 64 year old Republican Pat McKinney, who is a retired real estate developer, and 29 year old Democrat Bakari Sellers, who is a Columbia attorney. Glenn McConnell, who is the current lieutenant governor of South Carolina, is not seeking re-election.

Part of the strategy of taking back liberty is through education. We can do that without the state’s help and without permission from Washington. The liberty spoken of is found when parents take back control of their children’s education and moral training. What would happen if we would do that? Moore affirms, “If we go back to these principles and our Christian heritage, we may find with God’s mercy ‘what once was can be again.'”

To that, I offer a hearty “Amen!”

When my fellow countrymen of South Carolina consider your candidates this year, ask yourself, will they be truly advancing these things, or will they be advancing a statist agenda, robbing you of your tax dollars to indoctrinate the children of the state with secular humanism? As far as I can tell, there is only one candidate for South Carolina Lt. Governor who is pushing for a Christian worldview in education, money, family and life. His name is Ray Moore.
