Sen. Lindsey Graham: I’m Fine With NSA Spying On Me, I’m Not Talking To Terrorists

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) demonstrated why he should be removed from office in 2014 and should never hold an elected office again as he told Fox and Friends that not only was he aware of the National Security Administration’s snooping program, but he doesn’t even care that the federal government is collecting his Verizon phone records because, as he says, “I’m not talking to terrorists.”

Graham told Fox and Friends last Thursday that he was “glad” the NSA is “trying to find out what terrorists are up to overseas and throughout the country.”

While I grant that the NSA, if they have probable cause, should pursue a warrant, according to the Fourth Amendment, in order to obtain phone records of those they suspect are engaging in criminal activity. However, they have not done this.

“I’m a Verizon customer, I don’t mind Verizon turning over records to the government if the government’s going to make sure that they try to match up a known terrorist phone with somebody in the United States,” the South Carolina Senator said.

Steve Doocy, one of the hosts of Fox and Friends, said that he was a Verizon customer, so obviously he had been tracked by the NSA.

Graham responded nonchalantly “”I don’t think you’re talking to terrorists, I know you’re not, I know I’m not, so we don’t have anything to worry about.

We don’t have anything to worry about? Hello? The thugs in the White House have already demonstrated their flagrant disregard for the Constitution and the law. Furthermore, Graham himself has demonstrated a complete disregard for the Fourth Amendment and in his proposal of the National Defense Authorization Act has shown a disregard for the Fifth and Sixth Amendments as well.

Graham continued, “I’m glad the activity’s going on but it is limited to tracking people who are suspected to be terrorists and who they may be talking to.”

Oh, so now we are to believe there are limits to the criminal activity of the government? Says who? Graham? How does he know? Because the Obama administration told him?

In fact, when host Brian Kilmeade asked him if he was sure about that, Graham said “I am sure that that’s what they’re doing.”

Host Gretchen Carlson tried to clarify that it was only limited to those suspected of terrorism by citing the 100 million customers in the original report.

Graham responded, “I’m sure we should be doing this.”

So there you have it. Graham didn’t answer the question. He said the government is doing what he thinks they should be doing, even though they were not following the law in what they were doing and he doesn’t assure one Verizon customer out there that the government is not spying on you via your cell phone.

Lindsey Graham is demonstrating that he is complicit in criminal activity by this administration. He is demonstrating why he and others like him in the Republican Party need to be tried in that complicity as failing to uphold their oath and as traitors to the American people.
