American reports has a “What in the world is going on here?” moment during a recent Senate Judiciary Committee meeting. On Wednesday, Senate Intelligence Committee Chair (Yes, we wonder how she could be a part of intelligence) Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) defended the National Security Agency’s sweeping spy programs. During her less than eloquent blather she held up an NSA chart that identified the United States as the “Homeland” …. Along with Canada and Mexico. Surprise!

The Atlantic Wire, reports:

You may also be surprised to learn that our homeland now includes both Mexico and Canada, two areas that we understood to be autonomous nations that are not part of the United States. Normally, this would be written off as a design goof, as one of the NSA’s (newly adept) graphics guys using a little more light blue than he ought.

Normally, this would be written off as a design goof, as one of the NSA’s (newly adept) graphics guys using a little more light blue than he ought.

This being the NSA, we’re not inclined to offer that benefit of the doubt. Is this a way of blending in Canadian and Mexican terror activity disruptions (which, we’ll remind you, is different from actual plots interrupted) to give a larger sense of the NSA’s success at halting terrorism within our borders?

We don’t and can’t know, of course, since the information about almost all of these 54 events is classified. Just know that the homeland is safe — be it Tampa, Toronto, or Tijuana — and that it’s all thanks to the NSA.

Yahoo added:

Or, perhaps the term was used in the spirit of greater cooperation as Canada and the U.S. work towards the Canada-U.S. perimeter security pact.

On Wednesday, for example, the Canadian Press reported that the United States wants its police officers to be exempt from Canadian law when taking part in cross-border policing initiatives.

Maybe the term isn’t so far-fetched?

Or maybe it was just a case of an ignorant staffer not knowing his or her geography? Apparently, 2 out 10 Americans can’t find Canada on a map of North America.

My guess is that there wasn’t a screw up in graphics. This is deliberate as the US has been engaged in working with Canada and Mexico more and more. The US has been pushing food stamps in Mexico and Mexico has only been too happy to help in the promotion. The US has also helping to train soldiers as well. Agreements have also been signed which pave the way for troops from either of the nations to be used in emergency situations….emergencies to be determined by the various leaders of course. Mexico and Canada are not the only ones training on our soil though.

I’d say this little bit of information concerning what is now called the Homeland is significant and since Feinstein has been spearheading the assault on the Second Amendment and gun owners, she is one that cannot be trusted to provide for America’s best interests. I’m wondering when the people of California are going to wake up and remove her from office. So far, after seeing them sign petitions to repeal the Bill of Rights, grant Barack Obama immunity for all the crimes his committed while in office and make euthanasia mandatory in the US, I’m not having a lot of confidence they will do that.
