Serbu Firearms Refuses To Sell .50 Cal Sniper Rifles To NYPD

Back in February I informed you that several gun makers and those that sell them had decided to boycott selling to law enforcement in states that were putting forth legislation hostile to the Second Amendment. Within a week, that number had grown by over 700%. Now word is that Serbu Firearms, a manufacturer of bolt-action and semi-automatic .50 caliber sniper rifles, will not be selling their arms to the New York Police Department. The reason is obvious, New York’s unconstitutional SAFE Act.

The company’s founder, Mark Serbu, posted on the company’s Facebook page an email exchange between himself and a NYPD-FTS. The officer said that he was “assigned to the NYPD Firearms and Tactics Section. I have been directed to research a new semi-automatic .50 caliber platform for my department.”

He had apparently been waiting for two weeks to hear back from Serbu’s office regarding obtaining a rifle for test and evaluation.

Mr. Serbu finally responded:

I feel bad because I’d love to get my rifle into as many police departments as possible…who doesn’t want their law enforcement agencies armed with the best possible tools to take out the bad guys? I heard a rumor that the only other company with a .50 BMG semi-auto rifle in production won’t sell to NY police agencies either. So because of a stupid law the venerable NYPD won’t have the best tools for the job….

XXXX,

Yes, I got the message and tried to return the call but got no answer. I appreciate your interest in our BFG-50A; I’m sure it would be an excellent addition to your department’s arsenal. Unfortunately, we have a policy of selling to state law enforcement agencies only what is allowed to be sold to private citizens in that state. Since the passage of the NY SAFE act, the BFG-50A is considered an assault weapon and as such is no longer available to private citizens in the state of New York. Therefore we have to respectfully decline to supply your department with BFG-50A rifles.

Regards,

Mark Serbu

Class act Mr. Serbu! Looks like Governor Cuomo and his thugs in the New York State House shot themselves and their officers in the foot.

Guns.com adds, “The New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, an NRA affiliate, along with the Westchester County Firearms Owners Association, Sportsmen’s Association for Firearms Education, Blueline Tactical Police Supply and several other plaintiffs have filed suit against the state of New York and the SAFE Act.”

For an updated list of gun companies boycotting the state of New York’s law enforcement, which now is up to 142 companies, click here.

Both Barrett and Armalite manufacture sniper rifles and both will not be selling their wares to the NYPD either, according to statements from both companies. With ammo shortages taking their tolls on the police and military and now patriot gun manufacturers standing up against tyrannical governors and legislators, it looks like it’s either time to repeal or the SHTF. Something will give and prudent gun owners will be collecting their rounds and weapons in preparation.

All I have to say is gun grabbers, look who controls the guns!
