SHHHH! Don't Even TALK About Guns at School!

Just when you think liberals can’t make themselves look more ridiculous, they manage it. It’s unbelievable.

You’ll recall the young children who have been suspended from school for having a toy gun (one slightly larger than a quarter), or one kid who carved his pop-tart into what someone thought looked like a gun? You’ll also undoubtedly recall the high school students who had forgotten they had guns in their cars on campus and all hell broke lose on their heads? Hey, how about the kid who simply pointed at another kid and someone thought that looked like a gun too? Neat, huh?

Well, not to be outdone, “The father of a middle schooler in Calvert County, Md. says his 11-year-old son was suspended for 10 days for merely talking about guns on the bus ride home.” Apparently, the sixth grader was talking to some friends on the bus about the Sandy Hook massacre when the bus driver decided he needed to chat with the school principal, Darrel Prioleau, so “the bus driver hauled him back to school to be questioned by the principal, Darrel Prioleau.” Isn’t that kidnapping?

According to the dad of the student, the principal has decided that if anyone uses the word “gun” at the school, that student will be suspended for ten days. What was so bad that this boy said using the word “gun”?  Wanna hear it? Here it goes…

“I wish I had a gun to protect everyone. He wanted to defeat the bad guys. That’s the context of what he said,” Henkelman said. ‘He wanted to be the hero’.”

The sixth grade boy was thinking that if that same thing happened at his school, he would like to be in a position to take out the bad guy(s). Well dang it, string him up! Who in tarnation does that young boy think he is, The Rifleman for goodness sakes?

The boy was questioned not only by the principal but also the sheriff, who then asked the boy if there were guns in his house. The sheriff determined that he would need to search the boy’s home to find guns. Isn’t that illegal?

The 10-day suspension was later reduced to one day and even the ACLU said the suspension was a “poor choice” by the administrator. Ya think? Sonya Kumar, an ACLU attorney stated, “It’s appropriate for school officials to investigate when there is a concern about student safety. But based on what’s been described to us, once the school official concluded that all the young man wanted to do was to be safe at school and that he posed no risk to anyone, the suspension was really inappropriate.”

But see, intelligent people are expecting stupid people to think intelligently. In this case, it is clear (if the testimony is true) that the boy intended no harm to anyone.  He did not have a gun (even a toy one) and was not bragging about guns. He expressed concern about the Sandy Hook massacre and what he would have liked to have been able to have done had he been there. Pipedream? Sure. Harmful intent? No.

But he used the word “gun” and the bus driver only heard that word. Didn’t matter what the context was either. The boy had used the word “gun” and that’s all the bus driver needed to hear. The principal only needed to hear the word “gun” too and things happened. The boy was suspended.

Again, why wasn’t the parent(s) of this young boy brought into the meeting when the boy was interrogated by principal and law enforcement? Isn’t that illegal? Oh, but we’ve learned what the left thinks of legal and illegal, haven’t we?

This is getting absolutely ridiculous the way the left is trampling all over our rights without concern either. They do so under the guise of “safety” but it is really nothing more than political correctness. Because they say they are concerned about the safety for all people, they believe that gives them the right to run roughshod over people’s rights. It doesn’t. Lawsuits are in order. Parents need to start suing and then maybe these wayward administrators will start growing brains. Though why do I think that’s asking too much? Maybe it’s because I worked as a teacher in the public school system in California for over ten years. My wife did so for over 20. Believe me when I say, good, intelligent, logically reasoning administrators are really hard to find. Often they come from the ranks of teachers who were crappy at best. They are kicked upstairs and put in charge of schools and they are as inept in that position as they were in the classroom.

Situations like this simply prove that people on the left really do not have the ability to use logic to muscle their way through a situation. The word “gun” causes them to panic. Really.

“Hi Bill, can you hand me that staple GUN please?”

“Sandy, did you want to use this glue GUN for that project?”

“Kenisha, I’m done with this grease GUN, so feel free to use it.”

“Hey Tom, bought a new nail GUN. Should work well for the job at hand!”

What was the young boy’s context in this situation? He was not inciting trouble. He was not threatening to do harm to anyone. He was simply talking about a tragic situation where guns were involved and used the word “gun” himself. But the thought and speech police on the left don’t want to hear that word. Gun. Gun. Gun. Gun. GUN. GUN. GUN. GUN!

You know what? Guns do not have minds of their own. They are inanimate objects that can be used to save lives or take lives. It all depends on how an individual chooses to use a gun.

The idea that simply talking about a gun or playing with a toy gun creates tragedies in society is asinine. Meanwhile, people seem to forget just how many action movies that are constantly pumped out where the “good” guy uses many guns against the “bad” guys. Guns, guns, guns. Hollywood has created a society filled with violent images, but the left says, “Shhh, don’t even talk about guns at school!”

People are free in the United States. Their speech is protected by the 1st Amendment. Maybe more parents should remove their kids from these indoctrination factories so that they can thoroughly enjoy the freedoms guaranteed to us under the Constitution and Bill of Rights. If I had young children right now, that’s exactly what I would be doing.
