Sometimes, things are said so much that they begin to sound plausible. Ridiculous things like: “We will have to spend our way out of debt.” They sound like the insane ramblings of the mentally challenged, but people like the sound of spending more money that they do not have. This causes them to believe or pretend to believe that these things are true.
And, while there is no doubt that we are seeing things go from bad to worse with crime and terror, the latest mental vomit to come from the Left is the war on guns. The Left has taken every opportunity to speak out against gun ownership. The latest out of Philadelphia is no exception.
The Washington Post reports:
A police officer in Philadelphia was shot multiple times late Thursday by an attacker who later said he had pledged loyalty to the Islamic State, officials said Friday.
The attacker, who was firing a stolen police gun, was taken into police custody and “confessed to committing this cowardly act in the name of Islam,” Richard Ross Jr., the city’s new police commissioner, said at a news conference Friday.
We should expect that Americans would be getting tired of this by now. We would think that a strong, proud people would begin to defend themselves and demand that the government take steps to protect them—steps such as hunting down all Muslims with expired or revoked visas—steps like refusing the entrance of Muslims into the U.S. But, instead, we are hearing nothing from fed up Americans. Instead, we are hearing that it is not Muslims that are the problem.
Fox reports:
Jim Kenney, who is in his first week as mayor of the nation’s fifth largest city, said, “There are just too many guns on the streets and I think our national government needs to do something about that.”
His statement comes on the heels of President Barack Obama announcement on Tuesday of his plan to tighten control and enforcement of firearms in the United States.
And the Washington Post reports:
Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, who was sworn into office Monday, said the shooter did “not represent” Islam and denounced the attacker’s invocation of the faith.
“This is a criminal with a stolen gun who tried to kill one of our officers,” Kenney said at the same news conference. “This has nothing to do with being a Muslim or following the Muslim faith.”
Then, according to Kenney, the Muslims are not to blame—it is the gun’s fault. This man pledged allegiance to ISIS. He dressed like a Muslim. He claimed he was motivated to shoot the cop because of Islam, but it is wrong to point the finger at the Islamic faith. Rather, what needs to happen is we need to take guns off the street.
We should ask Kenney where the gun came from. Did he walk into a downtown Philadelphia store and purchase a handgun? No.
Fox reports:
The suspect’s gun, a 9mm Glock 17, had been stolen from police in 2013, Commissioner Richard Ross said.
Police officials say the gun was reported stolen from an officer’s home in October 2013 but they don’t know how many people handled the weapon before Thursday’s shooting.
So, once again, these statements are illogical garbage. There is no law that they could make that would have stopped this nut from getting a gun. He was either the one who stole the weapon in the first place, or he purchased it on the street.
So, rather than being a reason for stricter gun laws, this proves that those gun laws would do no good. They would have changed nothing, just like the executive order Obama recently signed.
Do not begin to believe the Left’s lie about guns. They are just using this and other similar situations to disarm law-abiding citizens.
