I would like to start with a very timely definition of liberalism from this week’s Patriot Journal.
“Liberalism: When you believe that immature teenagers don’t know enough about guns to own them, but know enough about guns to make laws about whether you should own guns!”
All eyes turn to Washington’s “March for our Lives” this weekend. Students who “survived” the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School (MSD) shooting, will protest with adult organizers and other supporters of gun control legislation.
Certainly, the MSD students witnessed unspeakable emotional trauma last month and it is not my intention to minimize that. But, it must be asked; do these students truly understand what they are fighting for?

The media would have Americans believe how enterprising, savvy and articulate these students are. At the end of the day, they are merely children following instructions for a cause they don’t fully understand.
They are being used as “pawns” by the left to appeal to our emotions.
And nothing quite appeals to our heartstrings as children. But we can’t allow a “child” to tell us how to run our country.
The bottom line is that David Hogg, the “front man” for the group, and his fellow students are still children. Their brains are not even fully formed. We cannot give credence to their naïve demands. The left trots them out and places them upon a stage. They have become all puffed up like prideful balloons. They are the “survivors.” And they are suddenly imbued with altruism and all good things. They know all the answers. How could the rest of us be so stupid?
The Parkland, FL shooting suddenly thrust David Hogg into the limelight where he was embraced by the mainstream media. He has made some incendiary remarks about the NRA and Americans who support the Second Amendment, calling us “murderers of our children.” He makes accusations, yet he provides no evidence. As a child is inclined to do.
Suzanne Hamner, a writer from Freedomoutpost.com, has an interesting perspective on David Hogg.
“Statements by David Hogg should be treated as nothing more than statements from an ignorant child. Until David Hogg has a grasp on the reality of evil, including the nations that murdered tens of millions of their own people after disarming them, and an understanding of the Constitution and the Bible, he should be treated as a child, nothing more.”
Hogg even has his own Wikipedia page now, complete with sections on his “early life and education” and his “political views.” Fascinating stuff!
And he isn’t the only Parkland student to exploit his experience. The account of a female student appeared on ABC website entitled “We Were Children That Came Out As Survivors Of War.” Again, I know it must have been a horrifying 7½ minutes, but they know not of what they speak.
Another says, “March For Our Lives” will start a revolution.
Absolutely, the Parkland, Florida shootings shocked America. Seventeen people were killed by a disturbed young man with a legally purchased gun.
The Liberal Narrative
The students are outraged that Cruz was able to obtain a gun legally. If Cruz hadn’t passed a background check or if the law prohibited the sale of rifles to those under 21, seventeen people would not have lost their lives. Therefore, America’s gun laws are the problem and the laws must be tightened or better yet, why don’t we just repeal the Second Amendment so this will never happen again. Their friends are all involved in this protest. Their liberal teachers and many of their parents encourage their involvement.
The leap from “America allowed a madman to pass a background check” to “America needs stronger gun control” took most high school students about a nanosecond.
Perhaps, some students understand what’s at stake here. The majority, however, are merely doing what teenagers do. They are following the “crowd” and leaping to a conclusion; B happened because of A.
They have no real appreciation for the US Constitution, why it was written, or why it continues to be so important today. How could it be otherwise? Some of the students interviewed by the press were 14 years old. Can we really treat them as adults?
The students give a pass to the FBI, who received two phone calls on their tip line warning of the danger that Nikolas Cruz posed and to the four deputies who remained outside the building. President Trump tweeted:
“Very sad that the FBI missed all of the many signals sent out by the Florida school shooter. This is not acceptable…they are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign – there is no collusion. Get back to the basics and make us all proud!”
David Hogg, whose father is a retired FBI agent, made statements defending both the FBI and the deputies who didn’t act.
“I think it’s disgusting, personally. My father’s a retired FBI agent and the FBI are some of the hardest working individuals I have ever seen in my life…It’s wrong that the president is blaming them for this.”
Hogg added that Trump is in charge of the FBI.
“He can’t put that off on them. He is in charge of them and these people, what they love to do is push this off on bureaucracy and say it’s not them. He is in charge of the FBI … the executive branch is supposed to enforce laws and as such, President Trump is in charge of that and the FBI.”
Even the FBI itself admitted that “protocols” were not followed.
Regarding Deputy Scott Peterson (the armed School Resource Officer) and the others with guns who did not enter the building to save lives, Hogg said.
“Who wants to go down the barrel of an AR-15, even with a Glock? And I know that’s what these police officers are supposed to do, but they’re people too.”
Yet he condemns the NRA as “murderers of children.” These are the statements of a high school student who has no understanding of the real world. How can we possibly take him seriously?
As with most things liberal, a huge double standard has developed where student activists are concerned. They present their opinions as if they are facts and offer no evidence. When we question their statements, as we would question an adult who made the same remark, we are criticized by the left who say they are just kids and we can’t hold them to account for everything they say. Yet, we are supposed to take them seriously. They cannot have it both ways.
Unsurprisingly, media reports of the March 14th National School Walkout praised the students.
Predictably, there was brief (and derogatory) mention of those students who did not participate. NY Times reporter Charles Blow portrayed people living in rural and conservative parts of America as unengaged hicks who are too simple and too cut-off from modern society to care about the issues of the day. His condescending tone is akin to Hillary Clinton’s when she refers to her “basket of deplorables.”
At Bartlesville High School in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where hundreds of students walked out of class last month to protest cuts in state education funding, nothing at all happened at 10 a.m. “I haven’t heard a word about it,” the principal, LaDonna Chancellor, said of the gun protest.
In Iowa, Russell Reiter, superintendent of the Oskaloosa Community School District, suggested that temperatures below 40 degrees may have encouraged students to stay indoors, but he also said that ‘students here are just not interested in what is going on in bigger cities.’
Oh, come on.
Students have been deceived by “grown-ups,” including the Democratic Party, the mainstream media and many of their teachers and parents, into understanding only one side of the story, the side that appeals to their emotions.
They are being used to help advance the liberal agenda.
They have no grasp of the other side of the story because it’s never been explained to them.
What a wonderful world it would be if there were no guns, no killing, and no war.
Too bad that’s not the world we live in.
