Yesterday Floyd Corkins II entered the conservative Christian Family Research Council’s building and began shooting at a guard that confronted him for being there. The guard was wounded but able to secure the man’s gun and hold him till authorities got on the scene. While it was being treated as a case of domestic terrorism, some are also wondering if it will be considered a “hate crime.” Their reasoning is that since he was part of a LGBT group that his actions against the FRC would be considered a hate crime.
As I’ve said previously, there is no crime committed that is committed out of love. Every crime is committed out of hate. The use of the terms terrorism and hate here are simply emotional terms. What should be focused on is what the individual actually did. With that in mind, let’s just take the fact that he went in and fired upon a security guard in a facility occupied by a pro-marriage, pro-family, and pro-life organization. If he had not been stopped, would he have continued his rampage against those he disagreed with? Probably.
However, what is sad in the response of the left. We have yet to hear anything on the Democrat side of the aisle in response to this and condemning the actions. There has been a deafening silence.
But it is the militant homosexuals that are the most disturbing in their responses. Joel McDurmon cites several comments on a pro-homosexual website that really makes me wonder if these people can be trusted at all in a free society. From the site:
I don’t approve of what this gun man did, but I understand, and had he managed to get to his intended targets, I wouldn’t had felt bad. They’re the ones who declared war, not us. It is what it is. Let’s not forget that the “Family Research Council” is a hate group.

Sorry guys but I wouldn’t apologize for this incident, after all its the family research council thats been spreading hate, lies and promoting bullying and even the assaulting of LGBTQ people. It’s time they got a taste of their own medicine, I’m tired of being treated like a door mat.

McDurmon listed many more comments. This is all tied back to the Southern Poverty Law Group labeling the Family Research Council as a hate group. They have stated:
The Family Research Council, which was recently designated as a hate group by the SPLC because of its dissemination of false and demonizing propaganda about gays and lesbians, has launched a campaign against the SPLC that includes an advertisement in two Washington newspapers.
Even as some well-known anti-gay groups moderate their views, smaller groups, most of them religiously motivated, have continued to pump out demonizing propaganda aimed at LGBT people.
These groups’ influence reaches far beyond what their size would suggest, because the “facts” they disseminate about gay and lesbian people are often amplified by certain politicians and even news organizations.
In their twisted thinking, just like all liberals, they believe that because someone has a different view and are outspoken about it that they are somehow hateful. However they don’t see their own hypocrisy. I’ll go ahead and call the SPLC what it is: a real hate group with an agenda. Like the haters that were on display during the Chick-Fil-A support, this is no different. The left never responds right to incidents like this. They always respond with more hate, more justification for their actions, and more vitriol. The above comments and others on various sites demonstrate this.
Let me also say that those of us on the right must also be careful. Sometimes in our frustration we fail to guard our tongues and it is perceived as hate. I don’t mind calling something what it is, but when violence is advocated, that is not a demonstration of love or just disagreement. It is a demonstration of hatred. The left does this well, especially the homosexual groups.
These people desperately need the gospel of Jesus Christ and the need to turn from their sins. Sadly, in our day and age, the Church of Jesus Christ has lost the power of the gospel by declaring anything but the gospel. We continue to let people wallow in their sin afraid to confront them with the truth that they are sinners under the wrath of God and apart from them repenting from sin and turning to the Lord Jesus Christ, believing that in His death there is salvation from sin and in His resurrection there is hope of eternal life, they will not only continue to live and act this way, but one day will face their maker and He will judge them. At that time there will be no escape. May God raise up a generation of Christians who believe in the power of the gospel with boldness to proclaim it.
