With 2020’s election hurtling toward us at a breakneck pace, much of the attention has been paid to the democratic side of the equation.
This is due, in no small part, to the fact that the democratic primary season has so far been a wild and unhinged spectacle with twenty-some candidates, espousing radical ideologies at ever-higher volumes for months on end.
But this ins’t the only game in town anymore, as a number of republican challengers have emerged hoping to unseat the incumbent President Trump.
Over the weekend, a third candidate emerged.

On this weekend’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” former U.S. Rep. and South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford said he will challenge President Donald Trump in 2020 as a Republican.
Sanford said, “I’m here to tell you now that I am going to get in.”
When asked why, Sanford had a simple answer.
Sanford answered, “We need to have a conversation on what it means to be a Republican,” Sanford responded, lamenting how the GOP has lost its way on the debt.”
His message has been consistent, even before the White House became the light at the end of his tunnel
Sanford, discussing what was then a potential candidacy, told CNN’s Brianna Keilar in July there has been “no discussion of debt, deficit and government spending in Washington these days,” and that those issues would be a focal point of his campaign were he to run. However, although Sanford has been a frequent critic of Trump, he has said he would back the President instead of a Democrat.
