Last week I reported that Republican Senators joined with Socialist Democrats to move forward on Harry Reid’s gun control agenda instead of supporting a filibuster of the legislation and driving a stake in its heart. In the video below, we know who the head of the turncoats in the Senate is. It’s John McCain (R-AZ) and Harry Reid openly thanks him on the Senate floor for helping to block the Paul-Cruz-Lee filibuster. But there’s more.
I wrote yesterday to demonstrate the kinds of infringements upon the rights of a law abiding Vietnam veteran who tried to purchase a weapon, but a background check that contained multiple false charges in it that restricts his ability to purchase a firearm from a gun dealer. No doubt, the legislation that is to be voted on today or tomorrow is some of the most dangerous to freedom and a treasonous attack on the Second Amendment. I’m referring to the Toomey-Manchin sellout bill. Their bill will be the greatest Federal overreach concerning the Second Amendment since the 1994 Feinstein assault weapons ban bill.
According to Section 122 of the bill, referred to as “The public Safety and Second Amendment Rights Protection Act“:

Beginning on the date that is 180 days after the enactment of this subsection…it shall be unlawful for any person other than a licensed dealer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed importer to complete the transfer of a firearm to any other person who is not licensed under this chapter, if the transfer occurs A) at a gun show or event, on the curtilage thereof, or B) pursuant to an advertising, posting, display or other listing on the Internet, or in a publication by the transferor of his intent to transfer, or of the transferee of his intent to acquire, the firearm.
In other words, according to this section, you would be unable to advertise your firearm for trade or sale on the internet at such places such as Armslist.com or in a newspaper or any other form of posting publicly. While it’s aim is at gun show sales and internet sales that is far from the boundaries it sets up. It also requires background checks in a building where a gun show is being held, as well as on any sale that is the result of an advertisement in a publication. The bill doesn’t clearly define “internet sale” so since this is a Federal bureaucracy wielding authority that it doesn’t have, it’s best to assume that this will be as broad as possible.
This same section also tells who you can transfer a firearm to without going through a background check. According to the language these legal private sales can be between “spouses, between parents or spouses of parents and their children or spouses of their children, between siblings or spouses of siblings, or between grandparents or spouses of grandparents and their grandchildren or spouses of their grandchildren, or between aunts or uncles or their spouses and their nieces or nephews or their spouses, or between first cousins.”
Those that are not considered “blood related” are not mentioned.
In Section 103 there is a plethora of government waste of tax dollars set aside. Grants to the tune of $100 million for fiscal years 2014 to 2017 are put in place that will be distributed to the states to cover expenses of implementing the new background checks system. This is merely a carrot held out to the states to ensure they go along with the program. The bill’s language is clear:
Authorization of Appropriations.-There are authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section $100,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2014 through 2017
And it also includes this little caveat:
Grants to Indian Tribes.-Up to 5 percent of the grant funding available under this section may be reserved for Indian tribal governments for use by Indian tribal judicial systems.
Section 128 also tells you how you can and cannot transport firearms you may own from one place to another. They even reference that you are “entitled” to “transport a firearm in a vehicle” if:
The firearm is not directly accessible from the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle; or if the motor vehicle is without a compartment separate from the passenger compartment, the firearm is in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console, or secured by a secure gun storage or safety device, or if the transportation is by other means, the firearm is in a locked container or secured by a secure gun storage or safety device.
This is just some of the shenanigans that are taking place in the Senate with this “compromise” bill.
Don’t worry though, according to Senator Manchin (D-WV) “If you’re a law-abiding gun owner, you’re going to like this bill.”
Well Senator Machin, I’m a law abiding gun owner and I think you and those conspiring on this bill should be tried for treason against the Constitution of the United States. You have no authority in the area of arms according to the Second Amendment no matter how emotional you and the people of this nation get over an incident. This is nothing but more government, more wasteful spending and more infringements upon the people’s rights.
Now word is that Toomey (R-PA) and Manchin are considering changing their plan to expand background checks for firearms purchasing, but it’s merely to get the votes to pass it with nothing of substance provided.
In the end, the only thing being compromised is freedom.
Contact your Senators today and demand that they kill this massive gun control bill that is before them. Tell them not to compromise with the Socialist enemies of America.
