Well the White House is scrambling for damage control over the new book by Richard Miniter Leading From Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisers Who Decide for Him. As I wrote how Miniter declared that Obama had fumbled the football three times prior to the actual command to get Osama bin Laden, the White House is claiming that those accusations are false. Well there is a bit of a trust issue with the current White House administration, isn’t there?
Today, the White House is calling Miniter’s claim a farce, stating explicitly that Jarrett had “no role in planning the mission and that Obama didn’t stop planning the mission three times in 2011.” And Fox News has reported that Admiral Bill McCraven, Commander of US Special Operations Command, says he was “the only representative fromt JSOC at any of the meetings concerning Osama bin Laden and that the president’s support for the mission never wavered.”
Moreover, this morning, White House Deputy Press Sec. Josh Earnest even announced, “it’s pretty clear Mr. Miniter doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”
Miniter is unpersuaded by the White House’s statements and claims that this sources include an “official affiliated with the Joint Special Forces Command who had knowledge of the operation.”
Well it does make one think, doesn’t it? Are those meetings where Admiral Bill McCraven met with Obama about the killing of bin Laden, were those the only times that Barack Obama mentioned that kind of activity? Are any of these men sure that Barack Obama didn’t speak to Valerie Jarrett at all about this? I’m sure they are not with Obama 24/7 so they cannot testify to such things.
Like I said, this administration has trust issues, so when it comes to things they say, I trust them about as far as I can throw them.
