Solana has just opened a physical store in the heart of New York City. The permanent retail store is located in The Shops shopping center, built in the exclusive Hudson Yards development in Manhattan.
As of Thursday, July 28th, the Solana Spaces store opened its doors to the public, sharing the site with famous retail establishments of world-renowned brands
There, visitors get a comprehensive look at the entire project from its beginnings to future plans.
Solana (SOL) is one of the top ten cryptocurrencies in the world today. The Solana network competes in speed with the Ethereum blockchain. It offers smart contracts from where it powers NFT projects and some decentralized applications.
What you’ll find in the store
Despite the crypto crash, the Solana project has withstood the onslaught and promises to come out of this litmus test for the crypto industry with flying colors.
The Solana Spaces store is surrounded by luxury like all the others in the sector, only that it accepts payments in cryptocurrencies, as indicated by an illuminated sign in the store’s front window: “Solana Pay Accepted Here”.
Solana’s boutique offers visitors an NFT gallery whose walls display the entire Degenerate Ape Academy collection. When you enter you can see an interactive display of how Solana’s blockchain works in real time.
You can visualize the transactions as well as the non-fungible tokens that have been minted on the network
Right there too, visitors can join the crypto space. The store has several stations where people can set up a Phantom wallet, which is Solana’s most famous wallet.
Inside the private booth, the initial phrase, i.e. the twelve secret words used to regain control of a wallet, can be written on a small card that the user keeps in safekeeping.
Other stations available in the store offer tutorials on platforms such as STEPN, an application of fun games and social elements that serves to run Web3.
Educating the visitor
Likewise, you have the NFT marketplace, Magic Eden, the most popular marketplace in the Solana project with the latest collections of non-fungible tokens. It is touted as “the home of the next generation of digital creators.”
You will also find a version of the Solana Saga, none other than the project’s Web3 cell phone
In true Hard Rock Café style, with its distances of course, the Solana store also showcases a variety of the brand’s products. Including T-shirts, sweatshirts, caps and hats, with crypto-community labels and phrases.
Among the most well-known, the rallying cry: “WAGMI”, as well as “degen”, “probably nothing”, “no financial advice”. Crypto industry lovers and, basically, Solana’s followers have a space to share and dream.
An expensive experiment
It’s a store with a lot to see. Although its primary goal is to incorporate people and educate them about the cryptocurrency industry. So said Solana Spaces CEO Vibhu Norby, speaking to Fortune magazine.
Norby believes that this peculiar commercial space is “an experiment that we think a lot of people will love.” Although the truth is that, as a boutique showroom and souvenir store, it is an expensive store.
A lease at this location easily exceeds several tens of thousands of dollars. But in any case, the Solana Foundation (which is in charge of building the system) will know why it has made such an expensive investment.
Perhaps the store seeks to give the Solana project a touch of distinction, sophistication and solid image in the midst of the biggest historical challenge of cryptocurrencies
We will have to wait for the results and sustainability of the store. What is certain is that upon opening its doors, the store has aroused the interest of dozens of curious people who come to see what is inside.
Those who know Solana already have a place to have their picture taken and show off their visit. Those who don’t, know the project closely and maybe they can get hooked in the crypto world, where history is just being written.
